Show your support for programs to #EducateRefugees
Next week, from September 8-11, we will introduce you to some of the refugees we work with and ask you to stand in solidarity with them by demonstrating your support for refugee education.

(Washington, D.C.) September 3, 2015 — After a busy few weeks of families wrapping up summer activities and scrambling to buy school supplies, most children in the United States have returned to school. Settling in with new teachers and classmates, this is a time of renewal, excitement and hope for young people as their minds are exposed to new ideas and opportunities.

Yet, this is not the reality for everyone. Millions of children around the world have had their education disrupted by war, political instability or natural disasters. Only one in two refugee children are enrolled in primary school and only one in four in lower secondary school.

As American youth begin or renew their education, Jesuit Refugee Service/USA is drawing attention to the plight of refugees who are yearning for an education, but find it nearly impossible to achieve one for themselves or their families.

Next week, from September 8-11, we will introduce you to some of the refugees we work with and ask you to stand in solidarity with them by demonstrating your support for refugee education.

To start, you can show your support for programs that #EducateRefugees in three easy steps:

1) Write "We must #EducateRefugees!" on a piece of paper (feel free to be creative!)
2) Take a picture of your sign or yourself holding your sign
3) Tweet the picture to @JRSUSA, post it on JRS/USA's Facebook page or email it to us

Share your picture by Friday, September 11, and we'll post it on JRS/USA's social media channels.

Make sure to follow JRS/USA to learn more about refugee education and see your photo as it's shared. Thank you for your support of refugee education!
