Act Now: Refugees Need Your Support

Millions of refugees are facing an urgent crisis—and we must act now. Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS)/USA, working in 58 countries, stands with displaced individuals who desperately need assistance. We echo the urgent concerns of Bishop Mark Seitz, Chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration, about the devastating impact of past policy decisions that have stripped vital refugee programs of funding.

These programs are a lifeline—but they are at risk. Despite accounting for less than 1% of total U.S. spending, they provide critical aid, security, and dignity to families forced to flee their homes. Without immediate action, thousands will face unimaginable hardship.

We must restore funding to programs that:

• Keep families safe in their home communities
• Provide pathways to integration and resettlement
• Ensure refugees find permanent, secure futures

Through support from the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), JRS delivers essential aid, this loss threatens lives and undermines global peace and security. Former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff has warned that failing to support refugees fuels instability and extremism.
