We Are All the Body of Christ – A Prayer for Unity and Welcome
01 April 2025|JRS/USA Outreach Officer - Clara Sayans|Spiritual Reflection and Resources

In the words of Paul, we hear a plea,
a truth that reaches across time:
we are the body, each part essential,
bound together, inseparable.
From hand to foot, from eye to ear,
each of us must come close.
The broken, the wounded, the lost,
they all have a place among us.
Our sisters and brothers in distress,
displaced, forgotten, suffering,
are part of us, their pain is ours,
and in welcoming them, we are not alone.
For Christ, in His life and death,
taught us to open our hearts,
to shelter those with nowhere to go,
to offer them love, to help them grow.
When immigrants knock on our doors,
our task is clear: to restore
the hope that’s been lost, the trust that’s been broken,
for they are us, and we are born
to love, to heal, to rise
together, hand in hand.
The body lives in unity,
a bond that stretches across time.
By welcoming the stranger,
we build God’s kingdom, full of grace.
Let us be the ones who see,
in every soul, humanity.
As Paul wrote, with a sincere heart,
we are the body—close and distant.
Together we must rise and act,
for justice, mercy, and the right
to shelter, love, and lift the weak,
for in their lives, His presence speaks.
