Protect CHNV Parolees from Removal
Support CHNV parolees today.
Jesuit Refugee Service/USA is calling on advocates and faith partners to urgently support Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) nationals who entered the United States through a legal humanitarian parole program—and are now at risk of losing their protection.
More than 530,000 individuals have benefited from this program, arriving in the US legally, with the support of US sponsors. The program allows them to contribute to their communities through work and to live in safety. It has also been credited with reducing Illegal migration while contributing to the self-sufficiency of beneficiaries who rely on community networks for support.
The administration has announced:
- The termination of the CHNV humanitarian parole program, effective April 24
- Rescission of parole status for current beneficiaries
- The suspension of immigration application processing for CHNV parolees
- Expedited removal of those who have not departed by April 24
Many of these individuals are eligible for lawful permanent residency through family connections or other protections under US law. Others face grave threats—including persecution and torture—if returned to their home countries.
What We’re Asking
We ask you to contact the White House and your Members of Congress and urge them to:
- Allow CHNV parolees to remain in the US with work authorization while their legal status is assessed and resolved
- Resume the processing of all immigration applications for CHNV beneficiaries
- Create a transparent process to seek re-parole and continued work authorization
