Strengthen Refugee, Asylum, and Temporary Protection Programs
The United States has long been a global leader in providing refuge and hope to those fleeing violence, persecution, and natural disasters. Since 1980, US refugee resettlement programs has saved over 3.2 million lives and enriched our communities with leaders in science, medicine, business, arts, and countless other fields. These programs are now at risk, and your voice is needed to protect them.
Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS)/USA urges the administration and Congress to:
- Preserve and Strengthen US Refugee, Asylum, and Humanitarian Programs
Refugees and asylum-seekers contribute to the United States through their work, families, faith, and civic commitments. These programs, in turn, save lives, promote global stability, and advance all our interests in a safe and peaceful world.
- Invest in Establishing the Conditions that Allow Persons to Thrive in their Home Communities and to Migrate Safely
Supporting efforts to enable migrants to safely remain in their home countries, migrate legally to safety, or return home voluntarily is vital to addressing global displacement.
The stakes are too high to remain silent. Refugees and displaced people are counting on us to act.
